Why’s Phillip Seymour Hoffman all over the film awards? Who is this Truman Capote character? Why is this movie such a big deal? Hey, was he really good buds with the lady who wrote “To Kill a Mockingbird?”
Yes, Truman Capote was really good buds with Harper Lee.
Yes, “Capote” really was a big deal.
But before you see it (if you haven’t already), you can see “In Cold Blood” (1967), the cinematic version of Capote’s infamous non-fiction novel he’s working on in the true-story movie “Capote.”

Oriental comedy gold.
The same way you’re not supposed to apply the word “oriental” to things that are technically “Asian,” we understand that Ben Kronberg doesn’t want to be associated with “asparagus.”
Speaking of which, I think I’ve already used that joke here, which is why I for one will not be on the stage tonight at the Oriental Theater for another night of comedy with Wrist Deep Productions featuring Ben Kronberg, Greg Baumhauer, and Andrew Orvedahl.
$5 cover, $3 wells, $2 PBRs. So hip without being hip at all.
