Montevideo, Uruguay – Five people including a boy of 15 died Friday when they were run over by a train during the shooting of a TV program in the western Uruguayan city of Young.

Another 11 victims were rushed to hospital with serious injuries, some with the loss of limbs, according to police reports on the Internet portal Observa.

The accident happened during the shooting of an episode of “Desafio al Corazon,” or “Heart Challenge,” for Channel 10 in Montevideo, in which the contestants had to push an old steam engine and two train cars.

Those responsible for shooting the scene had chosen more than 50 adults to act as if they were pushing the train.

But then the crowd of spectators who were watching the recording climbed over the security barriers and ran onto the train tracks to try and get in on the act.

At that moment the train began moving and a number of people who had climbed over the barriers were run over by the engine.
