Ignoring champions
I find the lack of balance in your coverage of collegiate sports unconscionable. It apparently isn’t registering on your radar, at least not with any sense of importance, but the championship round of the Division I NCAA wrestling tournament was held. ESPN had the style to provide coverage on national television. You apparently chose to ignore it.
We’re not even close to the finals of the March Madness basketball hoopla, but you see fit to devote the front page of today’s sports section, plus a multipage insert, to that vastly overhyped competition. But if you really search, you might be able to find a few small paragraphs about the NCAA wrestling tournament buried in a nondescript article covering other “College Sports.” You didn’t even provide the full list of the new NCAA wrestling champions, much less any details. It may come as a surprise to you, but for wrestling fans this is a big deal – every bit as important as March Madness is to basketball fans.
Come on, Denver Post. We just had a wrestler from Colorado (Ben Cherrington) complete an undefeated season and win a Division I NCAA championship. What do you think deserves more attention, that accomplishment or your weekly selections of the prep student-athletes of the week?

Coverage buried
What in the world are you thinking? The NCAA men’s and women’s hockey tournaments were being played recently, with the women’s champion crowned and a great regional game between Wisconsin and Cornell going into three overtimes, and The Post cannot do a real story on either. It is an absolute disgrace that all you can muster are four paragraphs of one sentence each for the women and one paragraph/sentence for each of the men’s regionals, followed by another paragraph/sentence on a curling match. Are you equating these activities because they both take place on ice?
Just to give you a head’s up, on April 6 and 8, the men’s hockey championship is being held in Milwaukee. Do you think you can send Mike Chambers, or failing that, spend a buck and use a wire service story? I’ll watch the games on television and write you a story for free.
By the way, did you know that former DU defensemen Matt Carle is one of the favorites for the Hobey Baker Award? Just checking, since you seem to have your head in the sand regarding college hockey.
