Two people were taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver on Thursday with injuries suffered when the car they were in was hit head-on by a semi truck.
The wreck happened about 8:50 a.m. on U.S. 6 in Clear Creek Canyon west of Golden.
The semi, driven by Juan Ibarra, 51, of Aurora, was eastbound on the highway when it drifted in the westbound lane and sideswiped a vehicle, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The truck then hit a 1999 Ford Escort driven by Emily Nakamura, 49, of Arvada.
Nakamura and an unidentified passenger were injured and taken to the hospital.
The highway was closed in both directions for about two hours.
