University of Colorado regents named Roy Wilson, president of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, as new chancellor of CU’s Denver and Health Sciences Center.

Wilson was the sole finalist for the job. He will start July 1 and has a five-year contract.

Wilson succeeds James Shore, who retired last year after seven years. He will oversee three campuses and 28,000 students.

Regents also named Denise Kassebaum dean of CU’s dentistry school. She has been interim dean since Howard Landesman became director of external relations and diversity for the school.
