The cat is back.

Starting May 6, Alley Cat nightclub will be back scratching and meowing above the Diamond Cabaret. The space, which has seen a lot of concepts over the years (Beach Babes, Industry), will remain as Tabu on Friday nights. But things will definitely heat up on Saturdays.

Kevin Larson, a.k.a. the “polite porn king,” is behind the rebirth at the Cat, which closed in 2004. It’ll open with a VIP party 9-11 p.m. May 6, with no cover and free drinks. Then it’s business as usual, which means it opens at 9 p.m. every Saturday with women getting in free and drinking free until 10:30 p.m. Larson thinks it helps to have a lot of dames in the room.

“We’re bringing it back with the Pandora’s Toy Box vibe,” says Larson, referring to a lingerie/sex shoppe he previously owned. “Nightlife in Denver is all pretty much the same these days. We’re going to step out of the norm and take this depressed crowd and give them something different.”

He’s talking about some seriously sensual parties with a theme. His first themes include “Stripped and Dipped,” “Wet” and “No Panties.”

“We’re just pushing the envelope a little,” Larson says. “You have some fun, but you don’t wake up in the morning with any regrets.”

Tunes

Promoter Chuck Morris tours local radio stations this morning with his Live Nation summer concert lineup. He wouldn’t spill the beans to us Friday – except for a few shows: A second night of Dave Matthews Band at the Pepsi Center has been added for Sept. 13, tix on sale Saturday. At Red Rocks, look for Steely Dan and Michael McDonald on July 31, Bonnie Raitt and Keb’ Mo’ on Aug. 29 and Willie Nelson and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on Sept. 3.

Homeland security

FBI Director Robert Mueller spoke to the Denver Forum Thursday lunch at the Oxford Hotel. For Mueller’s security, three metered parking spaces were blocked off near the Oxford by the FBI.

Mueller was safe, but the Denver Forum was billed $75 by the city for the use of the three meters.

Forum boss George Mitrovich hoped Denver would show some mercy – and it has. After a call from this column, the city is refunding the $75.

“When our guys issued the permit, they didn’t realize in the application that this was being done for the FBI director,” said manager of Public Works Bill Vidal.

“That’s too funny! That’s great!” said Mitrovich when I told him the check was in the mail.
