FASHION EVENT FUSES HOME AND PERSONAL STYLE: Members of the local design community must rethink the tools of their trade on Friday during “Pret-A-Porter,” the second annual fashion show sponsored by the International Interior Design Association. The event spotlights couture clothing crafted from wall coverings, paint, wood veneer, tile, laminate and the like. IIDA will up the eye-candy factor by showcasing a 28-foot, lighted glass runway, and Statice Salon will handle hair and makeup. Individual tickets range from $15 to $40 – a deal considering that includes two drinks. Limited tickets are available by e-mailing Lynn at jclnet.net.
TOILET TANK AQUARIUM MAKES A SPLASH: Makers of Fish n’ Flush, a toilet tank with a removable aquarium, praise their product as both practical and kid-friendly. But don’t worry, fish lovers: The fish water is different from the water that gets flushed. And the fish appear to “fly out” of the tank during the flushing process. GALLERY STORE BOOKS FURNITURE EVENT: Today through Saturday, Show of Hands (210 Clayton St., 303-399-0201) hosts a trunk show featuring one-of-a-kind pieces by the artisans of Sticks, the Iowa-based maker of fanciful painted and embellished furniture. During these three days, the Cherry Creek North store will be transformed into a Sticks showroom in which five distinct vignettes will emphasize an array of whimsical, detailed desks, chairs, trunks, lamps, pillows and accessories crafted in the folk art tradition. On Friday and Saturday, Sticks designers will be on hand for consultations. For more information visit showofhandsdenver.com.
