Simplicita expected to announce financing

Denver-based Simplicita, a provider of technology for Internet service providers, is expected to announce today a $2.1 million round of venture financing. The company will use the financing for sales and marketing of its recently released software product, ZBX, which is used by ISPs to notify a customer that their computer is infected by malicious software called zombies.

Samsonite stock sale planned for London

Samsonite Corp. of Denver, the world’s largest luggage maker, said it plans to sell up to $300 million of common stock on the London Stock Exchange. Proceeds will cover expenses related to the offering and will go to shareholders who are selling, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs International, Morgan Stanley and UBS Investment Bank will underwrite the sale.

DIA to be 3rd busiest over holiday weekend

Denver International Airport will be the third-busiest U.S. airport over Memorial Day weekend, according to the Orbitz Insider Index. Chicago O’Hare International and Los Angeles International are in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, respectively.

Hedge fund raises its stake in Intrawest

Pirate Capital LLC has increased its stake in Intrawest Corp., owner of Copper Mountain and operator of Winter Park, to 16 percent from 14.6 percent. In February, Intrawest hired investment bank Goldman Sachs to explore a possible sale, merger or partnerships. The Norwalk, Conn.-based hedge fund has since pushed for the sale of the Vancouver, British Columbia-based ski-resort operator.

McDonald’s to sell more Chipotle shares

Denver-based Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. said McDonald’s Corp. has agreed to sell another 4.1 million shares of Chipotle at $61.50 per share as it exits the company. Other shareholders plan to sell another 100,000 shares in the secondary offering. Chipotle will not receive any proceeds from the offering.

Culver’s to expand restaurants in state

Prairie Du Sac, Wis.-based Culver’s has opened a restaurant in Fort Collins and will open another in Thornton in late June. The chain, which serves burgers, frozen custard and other items, has two locations in Colorado Springs and plans to continue expanding in the state. Culver’s has 326 locations nationally.

New tenants disclosed for Northfield center

Forest City Stapleton announced new tenants for the Main Street segment of its Northfield retail development at Interstate 270 and Quebec Street. Tenants in the open-air center will include La Sandia, a modern Mexican restaurant by the owners of Tamayo; and Colorado’s first Bar Louie, a division of Glenview, Ill.-based Restaurants America Inc. Other tenants include a mix of national retailers and quick-service restaurants.
