Appleridge Cafe: Don’t wait for a hostess to seat you
at Appleridge Cafe, just put your name on the list and sit
tight. When your name is called, take your booth. Order a
fried-egg sandwich with a runny yolk, no matter what time
of day it is. (It comes on white toast with lettuce, tomato
and mayo, on a plate piled high with crispy brown fries.)
End with coffee and pie, which, if you’re lucky, will be cherry
or coconut. Leave happy. | 3790 Kipling St., Wheat
Ridge; 303-423-6800 | Tucker Shaw
Wonderful Inn: Chinese in Greeley? In a city known for steaks and Mexican food, it might seem odd to find a good hot and sour soup, but the Wonderful Inn lives up to its name. Crispy sesame chicken, torchin’ “General Chicken,” intensely chickeny egg-drop soup and succulent mu shu dishes make this plain place a worthy detour.|3605 W. 10th St., Greeley; 970-356-3388|Kristen Browning-Blas
Cafe Paprika: Specializing in foods from Morocco and the Mediterranean, this 13-year-old restaurant, nestled in an Aurora strip mall, is worth the drive if only for the bastilla and the house salad, an incredible assembly of roasted eggplant, cucumber and tomato salad, marinated carrots, and sliced red beets. Lamb and chicken dishes are also so good you’ll wonder why it took so long to get here.|13160 E. Mississippi Ave. (at Uvalda), Aurora, 303-755-4150. Closed Sunday.|Ellen Sweets
