The Downtown Denver Partnership will continue to combat panhand ling, boost downtown residential growth, work with the city on the Downtown Area Plan and spearhead a streetscape project along 14th Street.
“With all the development that is happening here, time is of the essence,” said Tami Door, head of the partnership.
The group outlined its 2006-07 strategic goals Tuesday at its 51st annual meeting. It has 555 member businesses.
“The Downtown Area Plan will real ly help give us a long-term vision,” Door said.
Patty Fontneau, chief administrative officer of IMA Financial, was named chairwoman of the organization. Gene Commander of Shughart Thomson & Kilroy was named chairman-elect.
Jerry Glick of Columbia Group Ltd. will serve as chair of Denver Civic Ventures. Kim Koehn of Corporex Colorado LLC will chair the Downtown Denver Inc. board.
The partnership also gave out several awards. Molly Broeren, owner of the Molly’s of Denver boutique, was named Honorary Partner. The Denver Commission to End Homelessness was given the President’s Award. Gary Desmond, principal at AR7 HooverDesmondArchitects; Steve Katich, president of Rainbow Rewards; and Karen Mulville, general manager of the Denver Pavilions, were honored as Volunteer Partners of the Year.
