Colorado exporters shipped $3.9 billion in products to international markets during the first six months of 2006, an 18 percent jump over the same period last year, according to a report by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.
Colorado’s gain was higher than the 14 percent increase among U.S. exports overall.
Sales of computer-related and electronic products continued to dominate state exports, at 49 percent of total sales.
Most of the overall increase resulted from a recovery in the worldwide semiconductor market, which was in a slump last year, said Laurel Alpert, director of the Division of International Trade.
Semiconductor exports grew $275 million to $590 million through June – an 87 percent increase. Semiconductor exports from the state were down 32 percent in 2005.
