When someone’s willing to pay as much as $10,000 to attend your fashion show, it’s best not to skimp on the thank-yous. So in anticipation of its 2006 Brass Ring Luncheon & Fashion Show, The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation at Denver took over a popular Cherry Creek North bistro one night last week to show its appreciation for those who’ve already confirmed their support of the fundraiser chaired by Cheri Meagher.
A nurse with a young son who has diabetes, Meagher says her mission in life is to “wipe out this awful disease. But I can’t do it myself, and that’s where you all come in.” Proceeds from the Brass Ring Luncheon go to the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes, an international leader in research and patient care. The center is located on the University of Colorado’s new Fitzsimons campus.
Nearly 200 people were on hand for the thank-
you fete held at Euro. DiAnn Marcotte and Sharon Whiton Gelt organized the 6 p.m. cocktail gathering and Altitude Network personality Will Jones stopped by long enough to auction off a variety of items chosen for the occasion. Jones also will serve as auctioneer at the Nov. 16 event presented in cooperation with Andrisen Morton.
Co-owner Eileen Morton brought several models with her that night to give guests a preview of the beautiful Pamella Roland fashions and Moo Roo handbags to be featured at the Nov. 16 Brass Ring Luncheon. The Roland collection, Morton noted, “exudes sophistication and glamour” and is favored by such celebs as Paris Hilton, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Garner.
Margot Gilbert Frank arrived just as her name was being called: She’d won the door prize drawing, an overnight stay at a Marriott resort.
Others there to enjoy a lavish assortment of hors d’oeuvres and drinks were $5,000 Angel sponsors Connie and Arnold Pohs, Dick Saunders and Patty Jenkins; Kimi Porterfield, representing her grandmother, $3,000 sponsor Florence Ruston; Gail Johnson; Jane Weingarten; Pat Lansing; Debbie Gradishar; and 2007 Heart Ball co-chair Lyn Schaffer.
