DID YOU KNOW?
Vernon
The unincorporated town of Vernon, in Yuma County, one of the smaller communities in Colorado, has a population of about 35, including its newest resident, who is only a few months old.
Established in 1892, Vernon probably got its name when early settlers were debating what to call the town, and a Methodist minister, John J. Vernon, said a prayer for divine guidance. Inspired by his eloquence, the townsfolk then decided to name the town for the minister.
