Rain was forecast throughout the Southwest and the Rockies on Monday, while clear skies and warm temperatures were expected along much of both coasts.
The Southwest could see heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds. The storms, as well as rain and high-elevation snow in the Rockies, were expected to taper off into Tuesday.
Clear skies were forecast across New England and the Mid-Atlantic, while the Carolinas were likely to be cloudy. The low-pressure system bringing rain to the Southwest the past few days was moving off the coast.
The West Coast, meanwhile, was expected to be warm with mostly sunny to occasionally partly cloudy skies.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a low of 21 degrees at Dunkirk, Mont., to a high of 93 degrees at Harlingen, Texas.
