A teenager who died in a car accident this month had several narcotics in his system, toxicology results released Tuesday showed.

Benjamin Moden, 18, was killed Oct. 8 when his van rolled on Interstate 25 north of Fort Collins.

He was the driver in a 2005 wreck that killed two teens. The Larimer County Coroner’s Office reported that Moden’s blood tested negative for alcohol, which was initially suspected, but it was positive for Ecstasy, cocaine and marijuana. Apassenger in Moden’s car, Joseph Darr, 21, of Loveland was seriously injured. He has been released from Poudre Valley Hospital, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

In May 2005, Moden ran a stop sign and slammed into another vehicle at the intersection of Weld County Road 1 and Larimer County Road 4. His passengers, Kurtis Soeby, 18, of Berthoud and Shawntae Taylor, 15, of Fort Collins, were killed. Moden was convicted in Weld County of two counts of careless driving resulting in death, one count of careless driving resulting in bodily injury and one count of disregarding a stop sign.

He was sentenced to one year in jail through home electronic monitoring, community service and five years of probation.
