Just the good stuff
The Central City Opera created the Belle Award to recognize a woman whose volunteer work is “unsung, but not unnoticed.” This year’s winner is Lucy Showalter, who has devoted hundreds of hours to maintaining the historic properties that the company uses for special events and to house the singers who perform during the summer season. “Those of us who know her well will probably always remember her in paint-splattered clothes, laughing, joking and generally keeping us entertained as we eat lunch on one of the (historic property) porches,” notes Cathy McClean, president of the Central City Opera Guild … Freda Gold,, who was widowed several years ago, has become a bride. She married Bob Landie earlier this fall … Gov. Dress to impress
The Inner City Health Center is to receive proceeds from the Little Black Dress Affair, a cocktail party and fashion show Nov. 30 at Valley Country Club in Aurora. The $75-a-ticket event is being put on by the Colorado Angels, with Scottie Iverson and Bev Church as co-chairs. There will be a signature beverage, “small plates” of hors d’oeuvres served during a fashion show presented by Eleny of New York City and a dessert and coffee bar.
