University of Denver freshman Rhett Rakhshani shared Western Collegiate Hockey Association rookie-of-the- week honors with Alaska-Anchorage’s Paul Crowder. Rakhshani, who is third in Pioneers scoring with 21 points in 22 games, had three assists in last weekend’s Denver Cup. He had two assists in DU’s 2-1 championship game victory over Massachusetts-Lowell and was named tournament MVP.

RMAC award goes to Regis’ Denise Lopez
Regis University women’s basketball player Denise Lopez has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference East Division player of the week for the second time this season.
Lopez had two double-doubles, leading the Rangers to a 2-0 record at the Jesuit Classic. Lopez averaged 17 points and 11.5 rebounds in the wins.
Lopez and her twin sister, Diana, have taken the honor four of the past six weeks.
