What the heck is that?

Amelia Earhart, KOA 850-AM’s eye in the sky, spends most of her day looking down on traffic.

But last week she stumbled across an oddity. Cruising in the KOA helicopter over a small pond near I-25 and E-470, she spotted what she describes as “an alien-like formation” in the ice.

Of course it is, Amelia.

Just so people wouldn’t think she was hallucinating, Earhart snapped several photos from the copter. KOA knows a good promotion when it sees one. It’s asking listeners to view the formation on its website (850koa

.com) and give their opinions on what it looks like.

To me, it looks like Amelia and crew are spending too much time flying over snow.

1. “24”; 2. “The Wire”; 3. “Friday Night Lights”; 4. “Grey’s Anatomy”; 5. “Battlestar Galactica”; 6. NBC’s Thursday night comedies (“My Name Is Earl,” “The Office,” “Scrubs” and “30 Rock”); 7. “Ugly Betty”; 8. “The Shield”; 9. “Lost”; and 10. “Dexter.”

According to a TiVo survey, the most memorable TV moment of 2006 was Katie Couric’s last day on “Today.” I guess, but what about the time Homer. …

Around the dial

George Gwozdecky, DU hockey coach, guests on the season premiere of “Spotlight,” hosted by Drew Goodman (7 tonight, FSN Rocky Mountain) … After stops at KOA (twice) and KRFX 103.5-FM, 20-year Denver radio veteran Kenny Marks has landed at FSNRM as general sales manager … Peter Boyles and guests discuss media coverage of the Middle East on “Colorado Inside Out Live!” (8 p.m. Wednesday, KBDI-Channel 12) … Conservative talk-show host Glenn Beck (noon-3 p.m. weekdays, KHOW 630-AM ) has joined ABC News as a commentator on “Good Morning America” …

Quotable: “Babies have big heads and big eyes, and tiny little bodies with tiny little arms and legs. So did the aliens at Roswell. I rest my case.” William Shatner
