Lisa Perricone and Rachel Roosevelt of the University of Colorado ski team were two of three Americans to finish in the super-G’s top 13 at the World University Games in Bardonecchia, Italy, on Wednesday.
Perricone, a sophomore, finished with a time of 1 minute, 17.46 seconds on the Ferruccio Bosticco course for 10th place. Roosevelt, a junior, finished 13th in 1:17.99. Nevada’s Katie Lyons was eighth in 1:17.25.
The U.S. team, comprised of men and women and guided by CU coach Richard Rokos, is in 15th place with four medals (one silver and three bronze).
CU’s Crosby in all-star competition
Colorado kicker Mason Crosby will compete in the College Football All-Star Challenge, a skills-and-drills event, on Tuesday at the Orange Bowl in Miami.
The event will air on ESPN on Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. MST.
CC selects 2007 Hall of Fame class
Jeff Sauer, a former hockey player and coach, headlines Colorado College’s 2007 Hall of Fame induction class.
Sauer, who graduated from CC in 1965, compiled 655 wins as a coach at CC and Wisconsin. He currently serves as assistant to the commissioner of the WCHA. Also in the 2007 class are William C. Hinkley, a 12-time letterman in baseball, basketball and football who graduated in 1932; Deborah Nalty, a basketball player who graduated in 1984; and Max Taylor, the Tigers’ athletic director from 1990-96.
14ers waste Brown’s big game on road
Elton Brown’s game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds weren’t enough for the Colorado 14ers, who lost to the host Austin Toros 101-98 in the NBA Development League.
Mike Harris added 20 points and 15 rebounds for Colorado (15-8). B.J. Elder led Austin (8-16) with 20 points.
Bucks hand Eagles rare home loss
The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League broke the Colorado Eagles’ 19-game home win streak with a 3-1 victory at the Budweiser Events Center.
Goaltender Eric Marvin made 31 saves on 32 shots to lead Laredo (26-9-3), the Southern Conference leader. Colorado (29-6-0), which received a first-period goal from Chris Hartsburg, has lost just twice at home this season. The Eagles remain atop the Northern Conference.
