Compared with previous years, biotechnology companies will have a bigger presence at the upcoming Venture Capital in the Rockies Conference.

The conference, set for Feb. 20-22 in Beaver Creek, ranks as the region’s oldest and largest venture-capital event. It will feature corporate presentations from 33 companies, including 11 so-called “life sciences” firms.

Among the biotech companies planning to present:

  • ARCA Discovery, a Denver-based company developing genetically targeted therapies for heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases.
  • GlobeImmune, a Louisville-based company working on targeted treatments for infectious diseases and cancer.
  • ApopLogic, an Aurora- based company developing products that trigger “cancer cells to commit suicide.”
