Forecasters say less than two inches of snow will fall in the Denver metro area by the end of Wednesday evening.
For southeast Colorado, snow will continue to fall throughout the evening, while in the high country snow from this current system will continue off-and-on through Friday.
A winter storm watch has been issued for the high country beginning Thursday afternoon continuing through Friday evening. Winter Park, Georgetown, Fairplay, Aspen, Vail, and Eagle all are apart of this watch. More than a foot of snow is predicted for the areas.
Temperatures are to remain cold through the night in the Denver area with lows to reach zero. Temperatures are not expected to reach above freezing over the course of the day Thursday.
For Friday the weather is predicted to be fair but windy with occasional gusts over 60 mph. A high wind watch is in effect for Friday along the areas west of the I-25 corridor.

Another dusting of snow hit the metro area Tuesday night, causing traffic to be quite slow this morning. The major highways all are plowed but remain slippery and sloppy. Commuters are advised to add extra time to their drive this morning.
The Colorado Department of Transportation has issued chain restrictions throughout the mountains, including eastbound I-70 on Floyd Hill and Mt. Vernon Canyon east of Idaho Springs, both directions at the Eisenhower Tunnel and on Loveland and Vail Passes.
A semi-truck that broke down on southbound U.S. 285, closing the road temporarily, has been fixed and traffic is moving again in both directions.
DIA reports the weather here has not affected flights. However, the East Coast is suffering from severe weather and a number of incoming flights to Denver have been cancelled or delayed. Washington, D.C.’s Dulles Airport was closed during the night but has reopened.
Several inches of snow fell in the metro area with the western and southern suburbs receiving 3 to 4 inches. More snow is expected tonight, but only an inch or two, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures are very cold this morning, in the single digits in most places. Highs are expected to reach only the teens. Lows tonight should drop just below zero.
The weekend promises to bring warmer weather.
