Denver International Airport was the fifth busiest airport in the nation in the year 2006 through November, according to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
Thats on par with DIAs ranking for the first 11 months of 2005.
But for the full year 2005, DIAs ranking fell to No. 6 and officials have hoped DIA will reclaim its No. 5 spot for the full year 2006. DIA traffic fell in December due to blizzards that shut the airport down for 45 hours.
The busiest airport in the first 11 months of 2006 was Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, according to the ranking based on the number of passengers boarding planes.
Passenger traffic for all U.S. airlines increased 0.7 percent in the year through November compared with a year ago, according to the report.
For the month of November, DIA was the fifth busiest airport, up from No. 7 a year earlier.
Separately, Expedia Inc. announced it has signed a new long-term agreement with Frontier Airlines. The four-year agreement extends the relationship between Frontier and Expedia.
