Olympic champions Dale Begg-Smith of Australia won the moguls and Jennifer Heil of Canada topped the women’s event to clinch the season World Cup titles on Friday.
Begg-Smith came from 10th in qualifying to win the final for his third straight World Cup victory ahead of Nobuyuki Nishi of Japan, who earned the first top-three finish of his career. Alexandre Bilodeau of Canada was third.
Begg-Smith tops the men’s standings with 684 points heading into the season-ending event Saturday. Guilbaut Colas of France, who finished fifth, is second with 496 points and Bilodeau is third at 406.
Heil won her fifth straight event, dual moguls included. She has 684 points, and leads runner-up Shannon Bahrke of the United States (446). Margarita Marbler of Austria was second and Stephanie St. Pierre of Canada was third. Bahrke finished ninth.
