DENVER- Frontier Airlines’ reservation computer systems shut down Sunday because of the early switch to daylight-saving time, creating long lines and flight delays at Denver International Airport, the airline said.

The airline was forced to switch to manual ticketing, which backed up lines at check-in counters and delayed flights by up to 45 minutes, Frontier spokesman Joe Hodas said.

The problem was resolved by 9 a.m., and flights returned to normal schedules by mid-afternoon, he said.

Airport spokesman Steve Snyder said no other problems were reported because of the time change.

The switch to daylight time came three weeks earlier than in the past. Parts of the reservation system had the correct time Sunday morning, but others did not, creating a clash and eventually a deadlock, Hodas said.

“The computer has lots of parts and pieces,” he said. “When one piece says this information doesn’t make sense, then the whole thing can shut down on you.”
