Golden – Three people have been arrested and a fourth is being sought in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old Jefferson County resident.
One of those arrested is the 17-year-old who initially told police he had found the body of a stranger in his garage.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was found at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the garage at 6412 W. Morraine Place.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call from the 17-year-old male, who shares the house with his grandmother.
He told authorities he found the body just inside the door leading from the house.
Deputies were met in the front yard by the 17-year-old and another man. They were taken in for questioning.
Three other men were later brought in for interviews.
Arrested on counts of first-degree homicide and aggravated robbery are Aaron Zamora, 19; Jeffrey DePault, 20; and the 17-year-old, who once attended nearby Columbine High School. Zamora and DePault are being held at the Jefferson County jail, and the 17-year-old is at the Mount View youth detention facility. Their first court appearances are today.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Adam Zamora, 20.
“Our investigators consider him potentially armed and dangerous,” said sheriff’s spokeswoman Jacki Kelley.
Colorado Bureau of Investigation records show Adam Zamora has been arrested numerous times since 2005. Charges include marijuana possession, being a fugitive from another jurisdiction, possession of dangerous drugs, reckless endangerment, possession of a weapon, altering weapon identification, driving while his license was revoked and vehicle theft.
Adam Zamora, whose nickname is “Big Z,” is described as 5-foot-6 and 120 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has tattoos on his right and left arms and on his left hand.
Kelley said she could not elaborate about the robbery charge, although authorities said the shooting victim was acquainted with those who were arrested. Kelley also declined to provide information about the type of gun used or wounds, saying, “We still have a suspect on the loose.”
Authorities have recovered a white Dodge Neon in connection with what investigators believe was a gathering of six young men Tuesday afternoon at the home.
Anyone with information about the slaying or Adam Zamora’s whereabouts is asked to call a tip line, 303-271-5612.
