BOULDER, Colo.-
A teen pleaded guilty Wednesday to being an accessory in the death of a Lafayette woman who was stabbed to death and then left in the trunk of her car for nearly a month.
As part of a plea agreement, Jared Smith, 16, was sentenced to two years in the Department of Youth Corrections and six months of parole. He was accused of helping put the body of Linda Damm, 52, in the car at her home in Lafayette, about 20 miles northeast of Denver.
Police acting on a tip found Damm’s body on Feb. 28. Three other teens were arrested on charges ranging from killing Damm to trying to dump her body.
Damm’s daughter, Tess Damm, 15, is being held on charges of conspiracy, accessory and evidence-tampering.
Her live-in boyfriend, Bryan Grove, 17, faces charges of murder, conspiracy and evidence-tampering.
Jared Guy, 18, faces accessory and evidence-tampering charges.
Police have said they believe Grove stabbed Linda Damm to death during an argument on Feb. 4. Police said Tess Damm, Grove and Guy tried twice to get rid of the body but failed, once because their vehicle got stuck and once because they thought they would be discovered.
Investigators said the teens were planning a third attempt to dump the body when they were arrested.
They said Tess Damm had been living in her mother’s house along with Grove for weeks after the stabbing.
