OMAHA, Neb.-
A man said to be the seventh-oldest in the world and the third-oldest in the country has died in Lakewood, Colo., a relative said.
Reuel S. Millar died April 15, the Omaha World-Herald reported in Monday’s editions. His death came 46 days after his 110th birthday.
Born March 1, 1897 near North Bend, Neb., he was one of five children of Archie and Emma Clark Millar. Last month, he told the newspaper in North Bend, “God has a plan for me. I don’t know what that is, and I’m not leaving until I find out.”
After graduating from high school in 1916, Millar worked as a farmer, with a cattle-transport service, and for the Safeway grocery chain.
He married Bernice Sollar Rodaway in 1926. She died in 1975.
Millar had been living in Colorado with his son Richard Millar, 78.
A niece, Joyce Westphal, 84, said Reuel Millar was in such good health, he continued to drive even after becoming a centenarian.
“He drove until he was 108,” Westphal said.
