Two Denver-based organizations helping abused and neglected kids – Tennyson Center at Colorado Christian Home and Third Way – benefit from a buffet supper and wine tasting held Monday at Morton’s in LoDo. Tickets are $150 and $250, with the higher-priced admission to include a pre-dinner reception with such National Football League alumni as Wade Manning, Fran Lynch, Billy Van Heusen and Leroy Mitchell. Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has given its Lifetime Achievement Award for 2007 to radio giant Zee Ferrufino … When Mohini Giri, noted Indian women’s rights activist and daughter-in-law of former Indian President V.V. Giri, came to Denver this month for the premiere of her film on the plight of widows in India, White Rainbow, a welcoming reception was given for her by Purnima Voria of Golden, founder and CEO of the National US India Chamber of Commerce … Deborah Jordy, executive director of Colorado Business Committee for the Arts, was in Colorado Springs April 18 to accept an award from the Arts Business Education Consortium. It was given in appreciation of CBCA’s efforts in preparing that city’s business people to serve on the boards of arts and culture organizations.
Rewarding those who care
It’s one thing to tsk-tsk about the increase in young people who view suicide as their only solution and quite another to step to the plate with viable alternatives. At its 17th Love Our Children Luncheon, the Shaka Franklin Foundation for Youth honored students, adults and corporations that have given extraordinary support to the foundation’s mission.
