The Powerball jackpot was expected to rise to an estimated $20 million for Saturday, since no one matched all six numbers to win the midweek drawing worth $15 million.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were: 1, 8, 35, 40 and 47. The Powerball was 9 and the Power Play multiplier was 3.
Three tickets sold in Louisiana, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin matched the first five numbers only to win $200,000. A Power Play ticket from North Carolina also matched five numbers for $600,000.
The top prize in Colorado was $300 apiece for 32 Power Play tickets that matched other number combinations.
Powerball was created in 1992 and launched in Colorado in 2001.
It is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
