DENVER-

When Democrats took control of the Legislature and governor’s office for the first time in 42 years, they promised to deliver on renewable energy, education, health care and transportation.

They said they kept their promises on renewable energy, education and transportation. Next year, they will focus on health care after a blue ribbon commission makes its recommendations later this year.

House Speaker Andrew Romanoff of Denver said his party did everything it set out to do, and was able to save taxpayers $75,000 by finishing five days early.

Romanoff said the biggest disappointment was the failure to set up a rainy day fund in the event the state’s economy goes into another tail-spin as it did five years ago. He said lawmakers will work on that next year too.

Republicans said they also had significant accomplishments this year, even though they were in the minority. They pointed to bills that would require that a registered sex offender also provide e-mail addresses, chat room and instant messaging identities to law enforcement personnel.
