Police officers frequently admit that careless criminals make their jobs much easier.

Well, a Loveland Police report indicates they don’t get much more careless than Brian Davis and his friends.

Police reported that an intruder forced the back door of the One Love Tobacco Shop in Loveland sometime Sunday night. When the owners opened for business Monday morning, they saw that the back door was open and that roughly $500 worth of glass pipes, weighing scales and other goods were missing. So they called police.

Walking through the store, officers found a pillow case containing some of the missing store items. Embroidered on the pillow case was “Jade Inn,” a motel just a few blocks away.

The owners of the Jade Inn told police that the pillow case belonged to room No. 10, which was rented to Davis.

On Thursday, officers executed a search warrant for that room, where they found many of the missing glass pipes and scales. They also found a sawed-off shotgun under the bed.

Davis was arrested and charged with a list of crimes, including burglary, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, mischief and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also arrested were Logan Davis, 19, of Berthoud, and Bonnie Lynn Marten, 22, of Loveland.
