Several spring storms moved through the metro area this afternoon, dropping moderate amounts of hail on Douglas and Elbert counties.
The storms moved through the foothills, then skirted the southern edge of the metro area, dropping hail the size of pennies and nickels, according to the National Weather Service.
The largest amounts of hail fell about 10 miles east of Parker.
The rest of the day will remain cloudy, with scattered thunderstorms in the foothills and south of Denver.
Skies should clear around midnight. Temperatures will rise into the 80s by the weekend.
