BOULDER, Colo.-
Greg Camalier apparently had heard all the noise he cared to hear from the airport next to his house.
Camalier, 39, was given a 12-month deferred sentenced Thursday for trespassing on public property after witnesses told police he ran onto the Boulder Municipal Airport grounds, cursing at aircraft overhead, waving his arms and complaining about noise.
A police report said he got within 15 feet of a helicopter taxiing on a runway in the March 26 incident.
Camalier told the Camera newspaper he didn’t make some of the statements witnesses attributed to him.
Prosecutors dropped an obstruction charge in exchange for Camalier’s guilty plea to trespassing. The deferred sentence means he will stay out of jail unless he’s charged with a similar offense in the next year.
His attorney, David Harrison, said Camalier is embarrassed by the incident.
“Nothing similar will ever happen again,” Harrison said.
Authorities and airport officials said Camalier had called the airport at least twice before the March 26 incident to complain about noise. Camalier told the newspaper his complaints were about a single helicopter.
