DENVER—Flooding forced the closure of two highways on Tuesday in northeastern Colorado, an area which received up to 8.2 inches of rain over two days.

Colorado 23 and U.S. Highway 6 east of Holyoke were closed after heavy rains flooded small creeks and streams, the National Weather Service said.

No injuries were reported and no houses were threatened by the flooding, Phillips County sheriff’s dispatcher Larry Somerset said.

The Weather Service said a weather spotter reported 8.2 inches of rain in Phillips County 3.5 miles south of Venango, Neb. About 7 inches was reported near Amherst but other areas of the county reported only about 3 inches.

Heavy rain also hit metro Denver Tuesday, with 1.7 inches reported in an hour near Conifer in Jefferson County.
