New York – Matthew McConaughey – frequently photographed shirtless and exercising on the beach – is People magazine’s “bachelor of the year.” “I love warm weather and summertime,” the 37-year-old actor says in the magazine’s “Hottest Bachelors” issue, on newsstands today. “What better way to enjoy it than at the beach, where few people wear shirts?” When asked how he maintains his muscular build, McConaughey says: “I don’t really have a workout regimen I follow. I just live my life. My goal is to break a sweat each day.” McConaughey, whose screen credits include “We Are Marshall,” “Failure to Launch” and “Sahara,” has high standards when it comes to the ladies.

“What I look for in a woman is what I love to call the ‘two Hs’ – hotness and humor,” he says.

David Spade, who starred on the “Just Shoot Me!” television series, also makes the cut.

New York – Viewers weren’t the only ones who didn’t know what to make of the boldly ambiguous ending of “The Sopranos” – some of the stars didn’t, either.

James Gandolfini told the Daily News in today’s edition that he had “no idea” what to think was to happen to his character, the emotionally tortured mob boss and suburban dad Tony Soprano, after the hit series’ final episode closed Sunday with an abrupt cut to a blank screen.

“You have to ask (“The Sopranos” creator) David Chase that.

Smarter minds than mine know the answer to that,” Gandolfini said.

“I thought it was a great ending. You decide.” The screen went black and silent as Gandolfini’s character and his family sat down to dinner, leaving fans guessing – and some complaining – about the ending’s meaning or lack thereof.

New York – A judge has dismissed illegal weapons charges against Fabolous that put the Brooklyn rapper behind bars for a night last October.

Fabolous was arrested Oct. 17 after he was treated for a minor gunshot wound following a wild night at Justin’s, a Manhattan restaurant and club owned by Sean “Diddy” Combs.

A prosecutor said Thursday that authorities were unable to prove that Fabolous, 27, or three co-defendants were the owners of two loaded handguns found in a car in which they had ridden.

“He’s more relieved than happy,” the rapper’s lawyer, Alberto Ebanks, said Thursday. “He should never have been here in the first place.” Trouble at the celebrity-studded nightspot began when someone snatched a $50,000 chain off the neck of then-Boston Celtics point guard Sebastian Telfair.

Gunfire later broke out in a parking lot near the restaurant.

Fabolous was hit in the right thigh, then escaped the scene with three other men in a Dodge Magnum sport utility vehicle.

While he was being treated at a hospital, police searched the vehicle and found two handguns, a .40 caliber and .380 caliber semiautomatic. Neither gun was registered, and police said the serial number on the .380 had been scratched off.

His latest hit, “Make Me Better,” is one of the top rap singles in the country.

New York – Naomi Campbell has settled a lawsuit with a former employee who claims the British supermodel abused her verbally and physically on three continents.

The settlement of the lawsuit by Amanda Brack, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., came to light Thursday when a judge in Manhattan issued a brief order granting dismissal of the case.

The order said only that “the action has settled and been discontinued” according to the lawyers’ agreement dated April 27.

No settlement terms were disclosed, and lawyers for Brack and Campbell did not return telephone calls Thursday.

Los Angeles – Rod Stewart’s 26-year-old son, Sean, was arrested this week on charges he assaulted a couple with a brick.

Stewart was taken into custody Tuesday on a warrant charging him with four felony counts, including assault with a deadly weapon, throwing a substance at a vehicle and vandalism, the district attorney’s office said.

He was released on $60,000 bail. Arraignment was set for July 3.

Stewart is one of the stars of A&E Network’s reality show “Sons of Hollywood.” He is the son of model-actress Alana Stewart and the 62-year-old British rocker, whose hits include “Maggie May” and “Forever Young.” They divorced in the early 1980s.

The couple involved filed a lawsuit against Stewart last month stemming from the April 22 incident, which allegedly took place outside a party at a home in the Hollywood Hills.

New York – Lindsay Lohan and her personal problems have enlivened the punch lines of late-night TV hosts. Now, Britney Spears is taking a turn.

In a posting on her website site titled, “You’ll Never See It My Way, Because You’re Not Like Me,” the 25-year-old pop princess asks her “most die-hard fans” to help name her upcoming album.

One potential title is a joke about Lohan: “Omg Is Like Lindsay Lohan Like Okay Like.” Other possibilities: “What If the Joke Is on You,” “Down Boy,” “Integrity” and “Dignity.” Members of Spears’ fan club can cast their votes on the Web site.

Leslie Sloane Zelnik, a spokeswoman for both Spears and Lohan, didn’t immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment.

Lohan entered rehab May 28 after a wild Memorial Day weekend during which the 20-year-old actress crashed her Mercedes-Benz into a curb, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and was photographed slumped in the passenger seat of a friend’s car.

Spears, too, has run into trouble. She completed a monthlong stay at rehabilitation treatment facility in March after attracting an onslaught of media attention for wild behavior that included partying with Paris Hilton and a stop at a San Fernando Valley hair salon, where she shaved her own head.
