A Colorado Springs woman, Kesha Tann, 42, was stabbed to death Wednesday morning in the parking lot of a Christian ministry where she worked as an accountant, police said.

A man whom she had been dating, Earl Frederick Mayes, 51, who lives in the Security-Widefield area, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to Colorado Springs police Lt. Skip Arms.

Police said Tann was in her car in the parking lot at HCJB Global, a Christian radio and health-care ministry, about 7:40 a.m. when her car was hit by a vehicle allegedly driven by Mayes.

When Tann got out of her car, she was attacked. Police said Mayes was arrested about three hours later.

Witnesses from a nearby business called 911 when they saw the attack, the ministry said on its website.

“We are shocked at this horrible act and our staff around the world is mourning the loss of our dear friend Kesha,” said Dick Jacquin, vice president of support ministries.

“She was a loving mother, a devoted Christian and a tremendous asset to our organization. Our hearts and prayers are with Kesha’s family. We ask the Colorado Springs community and friends of HCJB Global around the world to pray with us for her family and friends as they mourn.”
