A woman who struck and killed a Fort Collins man the day after his wedding turned herself in to Longmont police Saturday morning.

Lee Alan Miller, 28, was loading wedding gifts into his car Tuesday afternoon on the 1200 block of South Pratt Parkway when Connie M. Petitt, 56, of Longmont ran into him, pinning Miller between his vehicle and her Ford Taurus, the Longmont Daily Times-Call reported.

He died hours later at Longmont United Hospital, police said.

Petitt was booked Saturday on charges of vehicular homicide-under the influence, a felony; reckless driving; and driving while ability-impaired. She was transferred to Boulder County Jail and is scheduled for a bond hearing today, police said.

Following the crash, Petitt was taken to Longmont United hospital for head and facial injuries.

Police said she may have been distracted by reaching for something inside her vehicle. Evidence of prescription drugs was also found in her car, they said.
