The cost of using Colorado’s state parks will increase, with the first hike coming Sept. 1. The daily fee to enter Cherry Creek, Chatfield, Boyd and Eldorado Canyon parks will be $7 in September, then will revert to $6 until May 1, when it will rise again.
This change for heavily used parks is part of a general price hike that will include a $60 annual pass, up $5, starting Nov. 15. The Aspen Leaf senior pass will increase from $27 to $30. A second-vehicle sticker will cost $25.
Snowmobile registration will increase from $20 to $30 and off-highway vehicle registration will grow from $15 to $25. The fee hikes were instituted because park funding from the Colorado general fund has been decreased by $750,000. In another change, annual passes will become effective for a year from the date of purchase, rather than the current calendar year.
Meanwhile, the search for a new director for the agency continues. The closing date for applications was extended to Aug. 20.
Carp Pro-Am postponed
Continuing high water has forced postponement of the inaugural Denver Trout Unlimited Pro-Am Carp Slam tournament, scheduled July 14 on the South Platte River through Denver. The event, which benefits the enhancement of the river, has been rescheduled for Aug. 4. For information, 303-517-9197.
