COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A man kidnapped and held for three days was rescued by police Wednesday but taken to jail shortly thereafter.
Alejandro Solis Garcia was held for ransom for three days until Adams County authorities rescued him and subsequently took him to jail on a warrant for drug charges.
Angelina Franceschi, 18, Luis Arturo Mendez-Martinez, 26, Reyes Meraz-Rubio, 22, and Marco Antonio Peinado Caraveo, 24, were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping. One juvenile was also arrested.
Police said Garcia allegedly went to a sell a car on Edison Avenue Sunday night. When he arrived, the suspects forced Garcia inside a home at gunpoint.
Garcia’s family received calls demanding $20,000, three vehicles and “a quantity of illegal drugs.” Police declined to say what kind of drugs.
Colorado Springs police Lt. Mark Smith said investigators haven’t established how Garcia knew the kidnappers, but police are investigating what role the drugs may have played.
