LAKEWOOD, Colo.—Colorado casinos paid a record $112 million in gambling taxes on a record high in adjusted gross proceeds for fiscal 2007, topping a high for taxes set a year earlier.

Tax proceeds for the fiscal year that ended June 30 were 5.5 percent higher than the previous record of $106.1 million a year earlier.

Casinos had a record $798.9 million in adjusted gross proceeds, or the amount wagered by bettors minus payouts by casinos, for fiscal 2007. That was up from $765.4 million in fiscal 2006.

The 20 casinos in Black Hawk saw a 4.1 percent increase in adjusted gross proceeds to $565.5 million for the year.

The 18 casinos in Cripple Creek were nearly even with 2006 results with $153 million in adjusted gross proceeds.

The six casinos in Central City saw a 16.3 percent jump to $80.2 million.

For the month of June, casinos statewide reported $68.8 million in adjusted gross proceeds, up 8.6 percent from June 2006.
