GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A man wanted in connection with the robbery of a bank in Sandy, Utah, earlier this month was jailed in Grand Junction on a federal hold, authorities said.
Mesa County sheriff’s deputies arrested Matthew Corey Benjamin Monitz, 31, about 5 p.m. Wednesday.
A complaint filed in U.S. District Court accused Monitz of robbing a Zions Bank on July 6. He allegedly gave to a bank employee a piece of paper with a picture of a gun, and the words “This is a robbery, give me your money, or I’ll shoot.”
Monitz’s parole officer positively identified him from surveillance photographs aired on Utah television stations.
