DENVER—Dealin’ Dan O’Dowd didn’t live up to his nickname Tuesday, making no swaps at the trading deadline even though the Colorado Rockies began the day just 3 1/2 games out of first place.
“We had a lot of things working over the last few days, but in the end there was nothing that came together that we felt would make our club better,” the Rockies’ general manager said. “We are constantly trying to improve our club, and will continue to monitor and try to do that over the next two months.”
The Rockies may look to bolster their rotation and relief corps from within. Among the possibilities is left-handed fireballer Franklin Morales, who is starting but could provide bullpen help down the stretch with his 98 mph fastball.
