Commuters on I-25 may want to find alternate routes or plan on being delayed tonight.

From 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. the Colorado Department of Transportation will be closing the right lane of southbound I-25 between 20th and 15th Streets. The on-ramp to southbound I-25 at 20th Street will also be closed at that time.

While two lanes of northbound and southbound I-25 between Alameda and Sixth Avenues will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. along with various on and off-ramps.

The closures will allow CDOT to scope out the area around Alameda and Santa Fe bridges for future projects, said CDOT spokeswoman Mindy Crane.

At 15th and 20th streets, crews will be cleaning debris that accumulated on the shoulder during Friday’s rainstorm, she said.

A preventative maintenance project is scheduled to start Thursday that will close I-25 northbound and southbound lanes between the I-70 and U.S. 36 on-ramps from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., she said.

That work is to go on for three to four weeks.
