Wyoming cornerback Julius Stinson and kicker Billy Vinnedge are the Mountain West Conference defensive and special-teams players of the week.
Wyoming beat Virginia 23-3 in both teams’ season opener last weekend.
Stinson had two interceptions and four tackles, including one for a 10-yard loss.
Vinnedge kicked three field goals, of 48, 40 and 39 yards. He also averaged nearly 50 yards on punts, including one punt that sailed 59 yards.
Rapids sign former Fort Lewis player
The Rapids signed former Fort Lewis College standout Cliff Wilmes to a Major League Soccer contract, the team said. Wilmes helped lead the Skyhawks to consecutive NCAA Division II national championships in 2005-06.
