Rocky Mountain National Park – Searchers at Rocky Mountain National Park have resumed their search today for a Fort Collins couple missing since Saturday.

Park officials say 56-year-old Terry Jones and 49-year-old Marion Jones left their car at Big South Trailhead on Saturday, then were dropped off by their son at the Chapin Pass Trailhead in the northern part of the park.

The couple, who are considered experience campers and hikers, planned to stay overnight in the backcountry, then hike to their car and head home Sunday. Their car was found Monday night, but their family hasn’t heard from them. Other campers have reported the couple was seen in their campsite late Sunday morning.

Some 40 volunteers have joined today’s search. A helicopter from the western slope arrived Tuesday night to assist today.

The search area covers 40 square miles. Searchers say they have covered the couple’s planned route and that they no longer are where they had planned to hike.
