CARSON, Calif.—Alan Gordon, Edson Buddle and Kyle Martino scored goals to help the Los Angeles Galaxy beat the Colorado Rapids 3-1 on Saturday night.
Mehdi Ballouchy scored in the 89th minute for the Rapids.
The Galaxy (4-11-5) moved within 11 points of the fourth-place Rapids (7-10-7).
Gordon opened the scoring in the 46th minute but left the match 11 minutes later with a left foot injury. Buddle added a second goal in the 63rd minute but left immediately after with a left hamstring injury.
Martino added an insurance goal when he buried a cross from Chris Klein into the back of the net in the 70th minute.
David Beckham, out with a sprained knee, and Landon Donovan, who is on international duty, missed the game for the Galaxy.
Colorado lost for just the second time since July 22, a span of five games.
