SKIRTING THE ISSUE
If you’re a veteran of 5K races and other sporting events, you have a drawer full of T-shirts celebrating your participation in the Bolder Boulder or Race for the Cure. But you’ve probably never received a skirt when you sign up. That’s what SkirtSports is offering at Friday’s Convert to Skirt 5K race at the Boulder Reservoir. Need a kick in the pants? Harvey Walden, the U.S. Marines drill instructor known for his appearances on VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club” and his fitness DVDs has just written “No Excuses! Fitness Workout” (Rodale, $26.95). The book includes 30-minute cardio and strength-training routines, diet information, tips and techniques he’s learned in 20 years of training Marines and working with civilians.
