A two-alarm residential fire caused about $80,000 in damage to an unoccupied home in Greeley this afternoon, according to the Union Colony Fire Rescue Authority.
Firefighters were dispatched to the home at 2807 15th Ave. at about 4 p.m. and were met by heavy fire and smoke from the rear of the home, Division Chief Dale Lyman said in a released statement.
Firefighters sounded a second alarm for more personnel and equipment to fight the blaze, the statement said.
Neighbors said the home had been unoccupied for months. The heat from the fire caused damage to the exterior vinyl siding of an adjacent house.
The fire has been ruled “suspicious” and is under investigation.
