MELVILLE, N.Y. — At least four more students in three Long Island school districts have come down with a penicillin-resistant bacterial infection, officials said Wednesday, bringing to at least six the number of area students who have been reported struck this month. The infections by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, has prompted schools to disinfect equipment and other parts of the school environment while encouraging parents to urge children to wash thoroughly.
