A man was charged with vehicular homicide after an accident in which a pedestrian was killed, the Denver district attorney’s office said Thursday.
Salvador Marquez, 36, was charged in the death of Theodore Coe on Saturday near East Eighth Avenue and Lincoln Street, according to a news release from the DA’s office.
He was also charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
According to the charges, Marquez was driving at high speed when he hit Coe.
Marquez was apprehended Tuesday night by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers performing anti-terrorism inspections at the Ysleta international crossing in El Paso, federal officials said.
Roger Maier of U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Marquez was taken into custody without incident and turned over to the El Paso Police Department.
Maier said that while anti-terrorism is the primary mission of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the inspection process at ports of entry has resulted in numerous fugitive apprehensions.
